Mykonos as an LGBTQ+ destination in the Cyclades: Over the last few decades, Mykonos has carved out a niche for itself as a much sought-after gay tourist destination.
During the 1960s, former US First Lady Jackie Onassis visited the island. Visits by Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, and Brigitte Bardot came next.

Mykonos is often referred to as the “Gay Capital of the Mediterranean” and is infamous for being the Greek island of unapologetic hedonism. The gay nightlife of Mykonos Town is legendary, and arrive summer, its hotels, bars, and beaches fill with queer men from around the world looking to bronze up, then dive right into the uncontrolled nightlife – and daylife – of the island.

However, when you look past the crowds of tanned torsos – or if you visit out of season – you will see that Mykonos is a picturesque beauty all in itself, with houses painted ivory to reflect the relentless sun, topped with the distinctive blue church domes of Greece. Cobblestoned streets weave through the old town, vibrant bougainvillea line the street walls, and quaint windmills stand watch lofty in the hills above the fun-seeking visitors below. Just as in all of Greece, you can also identify some of the best cuisine in the world in Mykonos, and the hospitality of the people is unrivaled.

Mykonos is the gay hotspot of Greece and for wonderful reason!

We fell in love with Mykonos during our first visit with it’s iconic cobbled streets, white washed building, pristine beaches, culinary delights and vibrant gay scene – it really was a mini lgbtq+ paradise.

It’s also incredibly stylish, trendy and caters well to those who appreciate their luxury. You can expect to see many overpriced yachts cruising around the island and equally many attractive guys also cruising around the island!

Mykonos has been recognizable as a homosexual destination for years and home to one of the largest and most well-known gay circuit parties each August, Xlsior Mykonos, which draws crowds of over 30,000 same-sex attracted men!
