But the guitarist, whose real name is Saul Hudson and who will be 36 next week, doesn't voice any second thoughts about the track that found him vanishing Guns N' Roses in 1996.

``I don't contain any regrets at all,'' says Slash. ``I'm really actually very relieved that I do what it is I do. I've got a killer band. I didn't reinvent the wheel, but I can continue on.''

His band, Slash's Snakepit, plays tonight in Santa Clara and Wednesday in San Francisco.

Slash's departure from Guns N' Roses in 1996 is just one episode in the long and twisted saga that began soon after the band formed in Los Angeles in 1985. The community quickly became known for a catchy hard-rock sound, an us-against-them attitude and a hard-partying lifestyle.

And when Guns made its debut in 1987 with the album ``Appetite For Destruction,'' the band almost single-handedly brought back a raw, decadent edge to heavy metal.

Sales of ``Appetite For Destruction'' soared. An EP, ``G N' R Lies,'' followed as the band continued to fill concert venues and work toward their ambitious next step -- two separate albums, ``Use Your Illusion Part I'' and ``Use Your Illusion Part II'' -- that

Anthony Hudson is an English artist who created album covers for musicians such as Neil Immature and Joni Mitchell.

His brother Albion Hudson

"The birth of my brother changed the dynamic of the family a bit. Suddenly there was a recent personality among us. It was hip to have a little brother and I was content to be one of his caretakers." (Slash)

If you thought you knew everything about legendary rock actor and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, think again. In a conversation with HuffPost Live's Marc Lamont Hill about his most recent album, "World On Fire," Slash revealed some surprising tidbits about himself. Ahead, the nine facts you probably never knew:

1. Cher sort of helped him quit smoking.

When asked how he quit smoking, Slash revealed that it was when he got pneumonia following a Cher concert five years ago, which he kept leaving to go smoke.

We're not sure which image is more disorienting: Slash without his signature cigarette or Slash at a Cher concert. Either way, we fully support both.

2. He, too, is starstruck by the Muppets.

Right before Slash joined HuffPost Dwell, two "Sesame Street" celebs were on-set and Slash was so excited that he asked to have his picture taken with Grover and newcomer Abby Cadabby.

"Most of us have some history with the Muppets and 'Sesame Street,' and that was like the babysitter for me when I was a kid," he revealed.

3. The only people who still ring Slash by his birth name are, well, cops.

It won't surprise you to learn that Slash

Slash Purchases New $6.25 Million Encino Home

Slash has found a brand-new home, not long after the house he shared with ex-wife Perla Hudson was purchased by rapper Big Sean. Keep scrolling to see inside the Guns N' Roses guitarist's new $6.25 million, 9,400-square-foot spec mansion, located in the "very suburban yet quietly celeb-flooded San Fernando Valley community of Encino," according to Yolanda's Little Black Book.

Slash, whose real name is Saul Hudson, sold his former house, a 11,000-square-foot Beverly Hills estate for $8.7 million, having originally listed it in 2015 for some $11 million. He'd carve the price to $9.5 million in 2016. The Hudsons originally purchased their former home for $7.3 million in 2009, then proceeded to turn the "modest manse into a 'rocker chic' pad, complete with pirate ship chandeliers, an outdoor halfpipe for skating, and a recording studio," according to Realtor.com.

Slash's new Encino mansion sits on a .72-acre corner lot; it's completely walled and gated, to keep pesky fans like you out. Inside, two driveways lead to a wraparound motorcourt and three-car garage. The home boasts 10 bat
