23 Cute and Funny Wedding Cards for LGBTQ Soonlyweds

As it becomes increasingly more popular to ship wedding gifts directly to couples through online registries, gift tables at weddings are shrinking in size. But to avoid showing up empty-handed, the wedding card has never been more important! Recently, when I stopped by my local card store to pick up a card for a block friend's wedding, I was struck by the large wedding section that revealed rows and rows of cards offering a variety of congratulatory messages and adv wishes. Some are so beautfiul, it was almost a shame to put them in the mail, these choices make for a beautiful accessory to your present. But the overwhelming majority of options were geared toward straight couples — his and hers, bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Meanwhile, the options for LGBTQ soonlyweds were slim.

There were two card options for gay couples and two for lesbian couples out of the 75 wedding cards on the wall. The only other choices for LGBTQ couples were cards with gender neutral messaging and designs. But on such an important day, you shouldn't have to choose something generic — weddings are all about celebrating a relationship, a

Most states don't recognize gay marriage - but now Hallmark does.

The nation's largest greeting card company is rolling out same-sex wedding cards - featuring two tuxedos, overlapping hearts or intertwined flowers, with top wishes inside. "Two hearts. One promise," one says.

Hallmark added the cards after California joined Massachusetts as the only U.S. states with legal gay marriage. A handful of other states acquire recognized same-sex civil unions.

The language inside the cards is neutral, with no mention of wedding or marriage, making them also suitable for a engagement ceremony. Hallmark says the move is a response to consumer demand, not any political pressure.

"It's our goal to be as relevant as possible to as many people as we can," Hallmark spokeswoman Sarah Gronberg Kolell said.

Hallmark's largest competitor, Cleveland-based American Greetings Corp., has no plans to enter the market, saying its current offerings are general enough to speak to a lot of diverse relationships.

Hallmark started offering "coming out" cards last year, and the four designs of same-sex marriage cards are entity gradually released this summer and will be widely ready by next year. No

I'm thrilled to see that Hallmark has "Gay Marriage" wedding cards. They are very tasteful. Maybe 3 or 4 designs.

Seems some people are very unhappy about it. I say Great FOR HALLMARK!!

I'm proud of them!!

I am also joyful to see that Hallmark has decided on "Gay Marriage" cards. However, why does there have to be a new line? As long as the card doesn't say bride & groom, couldn't you use a regular wedding card?

Congratulations to Hallmark for putting in this new line. As Jason said they possess a card for everything else.

That's not

Congratulations to Hallmark for putting in this new line. As Jason said they possess a card for everything else.

That's far from the truth. Unless you are Caucasian, African American, or Hispanic, you'll be challenging pressed to find a card with your ethnicity. Some specialized areas, yes, but in most places, no.

I haven't seen these new cards yet, but we (Hallmark) have always had cards that were appropiate for such unions. In our "Journey cards" we even have a card for Coming Out! I deliberate it's great!

I think that is disgusting.
