Scripts:
Our writers' room continues to meet every week, and I am always in every meeting. The team continues to be absolutely superb. We have delivered the first four scripts (which is what we needed for the grassy light) and are now working on some revisions based on the studio's feedback. The executives had really sharp comments, and it's always good to have fresh sets of eyes on the scripts. We are also moving ahead to outline the remaining episodes of season one. A large part of this spring will be spent finishing up the season one scripts. I can reveal you with 100% confidence that this season follows The Lightning Thief faithfully, although we're adding a lot of interesting nuances, depth, Easter eggs and backstory that will keep the story fresh and joy even if you know the books inside and out. I started reading the Percy Jackson And The Olympians series when I was twelve years old. As a small middle schooler, the adventures of the demigods from Camp Half-Blood captivated me.

After the cease of June, the joyous month of Pride, throughout which we have had to deal with the resurgence of transphobic tweets from a once much-loved children’s author, it is more important than ever to remember the examples of good representation that exist in children’s literature. I personally have been restoring my faith in humanity by reacquainting myself with the works of Rick Riordan. As a child, I grew up loving the Percy Jackson series, which recounts the exciting adventures of modern-day reincarnations of the Greek Gods and their children. While the seven main characters of Riordan’s pursue up series all finish up in heterosexual quixotic relationships, Riordan has always been unique in his unconventional flouting of gender roles, particularly within the genre of children’s literature which often serves to reinforce these traditional roles. In his later books, Riordan has been making a conscious effort to increase representation in his universe, with what I argue is an overall resounding success.
