There’s a good reason why Walker’s Point is fondly referred to as "The Gayborhood" – the near South Side neighborhood has been home to many same-sex attracted people, families, bars and restaurants for decades.
Today, the LGBTQ bar scene is still going tough – primarily on and around Second Street – and continues to extend fun, safe spaces for everyone, gay or linear.
Here are 10 Milwaukee gay bars to inspect out during Pride Month or whenever:
La Cage
Historically, this nightclub has served as an anchor to the neighborhood's thriving LGBTQ bar scene. It has changed names and ownership over the years, but continues to consistently dwelling one of Milwaukee's most coveted dance floors.
This Is It
This Is It opened in 1968, making it one of the foremost 10 longest-running gay bars in the country, and possibly one of the top five. Last year, the Cathedral Square conference place expanded with a gyrate floor and second exclude.

This location, originally the site of two popular gyrate bars Gary's and then Circus Circus, was apparently vacant for a occasion. Then, in August 1980, a "teaser" ad appeared for "Trash" bar, without an address. The bar "Trash" advertised again in an October 1980 issue of Milwaukee Calendar, this time displaying the "219 S. 2nd Street" deal with. But "Trash" appears to have had a slow initiate, and after just a few months, in January 1981, an ad "Trash it up at Club 219" appeared that essentially signaled a morphing into Club 219, and a major chapter in Milwaukee's lgbtq+ bar life began.

Located on King Street, WOOF’S is a famous gay bar in Madison. With different specials every day, this is a quirky spot to grab a drink with your friends.
Herbiery Brewing
Herbiery is your next stop for a brewski — and you have 10 other options. Made without hops, the flavors are nothing like you have ever had before. The founder of Herbiery Nia is trans and uses they/them pronouns, and they believe that beer without hops is an expansion of their queer identity.
Dyke Dive
There’s an unfortunate shortage of sapphic bars in Madison, and this pop up is looking to change that. We spoke to co-organizer Sara Akawa about their lineup this year.
